Watch this video to see how easy it is…
Or just follow these steps:
If you plan to drink beer within a few days…use dispenser to pressurize the head space only. This will maintain and preserve your craft beer for the short-term.
Open Phssssh dispenser by unscrewing its bottom then inserting provided CO2 cartridge.
- Screw the provided Phssssh cap onto your growler.
- Place growler in one hand and your Phssssh dispenser in the other hand. Press the tip of your dispenser into center cap hole. Not too firmly. (Barely touching the tip to the seal is sufficient). Push down on dispenser’s thumb-button for a few seconds.
- Remove dispenser and store your craft beer in refrigerator or cooler that can maintain 36-38 degrees.
Instructions for Longer-Term Storage
If you plan to drink beer over the next week or longer…consider the fact that CO₂ doesn’t instantaneously dissolve in liquid. We suggest you follow instructions below then let growler sit overnight in the refrigerator for best results. You can add another shot of CO₂ in the morning if more carbonation is desired. Also, keep in mind the amount of CO₂ that is needed is based on head space and amount of beer you have already drunk.
- Open Phssssh dispenser by unscrewing its bottom then inserting provided CO2cartridge.
- Screw the provided Phssssh cap onto your growler.
- Give bottle a few really good shakes, which will cause foaming. (Shake it thoroughly).
- Next crack bottle cap slightly to release pressure then immediately tighten cap back up when foam rises to mouth of bottle. (Foam bubbles are 100% CO2 and will push all oxygen out of your growler).
- Place growler in one hand and your Phssssh dispenser in the other hand. Press the tip of your dispenser into center cap hole. Not too firmly. (Barely touching the tip to the seal is sufficient). Push down on dispenser’s thumb-button for a few seconds—and see foam go back into the beer.
- Remove dispenser and store your craft beer in refrigerator or cooler that can maintain 36-38 degrees.
Experiencing Any Trouble? Other Helpful Tips:
If you shake the bottle and too much CO₂ is released, your beer will become flat. To fix this, use your dispenser (per instructions for long-term storage) to re-carbonate growler again until you don’t hear any more CO₂ entering growler.
If you’re not sure the cap valve is working properly, you can test it by taking cap in hand and using dispenser on seal to verify CO₂ is going through the valve.
If you prefer more carbonation, you can manually increase dispenser’s output pressure by simply screwing grey cylinder knob clockwise to a higher pressure. Adjust only one full turn for safety. One full turn changes output pressure by 20PSI.
If you prefer less carbonation, you can manually decrease dispenser’s output pressure by unscrewing grey cylinder knob counter clockwise to a lower pressure. Adjust only one full turn for safety. One full turn changes output pressure by 20PSI.
If you decide to use CO2 cartridges other than the FiZZ GiZ® brand, don’t screw dispenser’s bottom portion all the way up or the pressure regulator will break.
